OmniFocus 2 App Reviews

Indispensable

If you are serious about managing and reviewing your projects, OF is a must. The team clearly works hard to keep all of their products in tip-top shape no matter what OS update comes along. Its expensive, but you will be taken care of.

Life changing

That is all.

The External Brain

One of the most important apps on my phone, earning the coveted center position on my three-app dock. OmniGroup continues to pour care and good design into their iOS suite and I remain a happy customer.

Great task management

Ive used omnifocus for years since reading GTD. Its the best task management system Ive ever used! Now I just wish they had it for teams with collaboration.

GTD machine!

I dont know how I lived without Omnifocus. A fantastic app for getting things done. Must have. RIcky

Excellent synch with desktop/laptop

Ive been using the desktop/laptop version for year and love it. This app works perfectly with that app, and adds some great workflow solutions.

Great iOS app. Junk WatchOS app.

The iOS app is still great. Its powerful, but has a fairly steep learning curve. Once you get past that, it is simple and great for all kinds of time management. The watch app continues to be awful. They cant get it to sync well at all. It is usually a day behind vs what you have on the iOS app. Syncing performance is a widespread issue, so I understand it may be that the watch is just particularly difficult to get syncing performance at a high level. (I actually sent my watch off to see if it was broken - it was not.) But, after multiple updates saying watch bugs were addressed this one still persists. Not really acceptable. Particularly at this price point.

Best GTD app

Do you practice Getting Things Done? If yes then buy this app.

Essential tool

Ive been using OF for several years. The app just keep getting better. It has the right amount of complexity and granularity to control the sorting (and almost if not more important) the displaying of tasks (using custom perspectives) to make them "bubble up" to get your attention in smart ways. The Mac/iOS versions of the app work really well together and in my experience sync perfectly using omnis own service. The date picker for tasks in iOS could use a bit of work to be simpler and more fantastical-like (like the OS X version) but this is an overall great app.

Terrific App which just seems to get better!

Omnifocus has been a staple for me for a number of years. Though I havent been a devotee of GTD, I continually surprised at how adaptive and helpful OF is to managing the myriad tasks of life. And every iteration just keeps getting better. Its a great addition to your life--get it!! You wont regret it.

My favorite app on all platforms

Still my favorite after being unfaithful and trying some of the competition ;) I love this app. It works so well and has frequent updates. I wish I could assign multiple contexts but I know thats a larger GTD debate.

Love the app! 5 stars+

But this update broke my today widget and watch.

Great app but...

I really like the app. There are a lot of great features, but I wish that you could email multiple tasks at once. For instance you can search for tasks by context, but you cant send the group of tasks to someone. This would be helpful when sending tasks to delegates. This is my biggest gripe about the program. The email task functional it needs to be improved.

Missing the most important feature

It doesnt run in the background, so it doesnt always remind you of tasks due until you go into the app to check. Its hard to see the point of a task app when it doesnt remind you to do the tasks. If all you want is a checklist, there are much cheaper apps for that. It does have a bunch of other cool features, but I dont recommend buying it until they get that fixed.

Great App for staying on top of to do items

Best to do app out there, and Ive tried dozens. The high price is a bitter pill to swallow but its worth it. Many of the other to do programs hook you into annual subscriptions, so in the end Omnifocus is more affordable. I use it constantly. This version is more user friendly that past versions.

Powerful

Lots of features that help you to sort and categorize your tasks. Theres some methodology to learn, but once you learn it, it helps me to be productive and keep track of my tasks. Too expensive you may think? It takes lots of time and skills to craft an excellent app, and its money well spent. Its an app that I use everyday which makes it all the more worth it.

Wheres the features/options?

Omnifocus 2 is visually appealing, but lacks options/functions. It is project focused, and I like the calendar view in Forecast. However, I wish I could sort by due date within projects-seems like a disorganized mess unless using Forecast which makes date sensitive future planning a chore (or unless you spend more money and create your own view). Needs additional custom repeat options such as every x months on the first/last/2nd -day of the month. For the cost, it seems they could at least provide custom repeats that are offered with the native reminders app, which they tell me would take to many resources to create easily. If Im spending top dollar on an app, I would expect options and functionality would be there. Even though Im trying to make this app work, I keep coming back to the 2Do app, as their app offers a full range of options at less than a third of the cost of Omnifocus.

An essential part of my life

I could not recommend this product more. There will however be a steep learning curve. I have been using Omnifocus religiously for the past year and am still discovering new and better ways to use it.

Daily used app

This is my first and probably only review, never bother doing one. Yes the application may seem pricey, but worth it, constantly upgraded with improvements and fixes, its one of the few applications which I use on a daily basis and does what I need it to do and keeps me on the point when it comes to task management. The application itself wont fix your time management issues, but if you invest time on the process (in my case GTD) you will reap the rewards and swear by the app as many other users have. Have the discipline to return to the process when you forget about it or skip it (yes it will happen) and you will enventually get back on track and improve your time and task management. Job well done Omnigroup, continuous improvement is all I ask for.

Still the best

Clean, powerful, and structured according to Allens GTD methodology—I cannot recommend his software enough.
